Woman Killed in Maval; Husband Detained Near Lonavala Railway Station
A 40-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband following a dispute in Kusgaon Budruk, Maval, on September 21. Lonavala Rural Police detained the 45-year-old suspect near the railway station after receiving information that he was planning to flee towards Karnataka.
Pune: A 40-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband following a domestic dispute at Kusgaon Budruk in Maval taluka on September 21. Lonavala Rural Police detained the accused within hours of the incident after receiving information that he was planning to leave the area by train.
The deceased has been identified as Kali Dagdu Waghmare (40), while her husband, Dagdu Ramu Waghmare (45), has been named as the accused.
According to preliminary police information, the incident occurred at Karke Vasti in Kusgaon Budruk between 1 pm and 4:30 pm. An argument reportedly broke out between the couple over an issue that has not yet been established.
Police allege that the dispute escalated and Dagdu attacked his wife on the head with stones and bricks. She sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.
Following the incident, the accused allegedly fled. Lonavala Rural Police reached the location after receiving information about the killing and conducted a preliminary investigation and inspection of the crime scene.
Three police teams were formed to trace the suspect. During the search, investigators received information that Dagdu was planning to board a train from Lonavala and travel towards Karnataka.
Acting on the tip-off, police set up a trap near Lonavala railway station and detained him. According to police, he allegedly admitted to the attack during questioning.
Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances and motive behind the killing.
