Pune Court Rejects Bail in Matrimonial-Site Sexual Assault Case
A Pune sessions court has denied bail to 33-year-old Ashok Vasant Badhe, who is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 28-year-old woman he allegedly met through a matrimonial website. Police allege that he threatened the woman with a pistol and took her to lodges in Ambegaon and Baramati, where the alleged offences occurred.
Pune: A sessions court in Pune has rejected the bail application of a 33-year-old man accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 28-year-old woman whom he allegedly met through a matrimonial website.
The accused has been identified as Ashok Vasant Badhe (33), a resident of Narhe who originally hails from Pimpalner in Beed district.
According to the prosecution, Badhe came in contact with the woman through a matrimonial platform and allegedly gained her trust by presenting himself as a prospective marriage partner. Police allege that he subsequently subjected her to sexual assault on multiple occasions.
The alleged offences took place between March 29 and July 13. Investigators claim the accused threatened the woman with a pistol and warned of serious consequences if she resisted.
Police further allege that the woman was taken against her will to different lodges in Pune's Ambegaon area and Baramati taluka, where she was sexually assaulted on multiple occasions.
The woman later approached Narhe Police and lodged a complaint, following which a case was registered and Badhe was arrested. His mobile phone has also been seized as part of the investigation.
After his arrest, the accused moved the sessions court seeking bail. The prosecution opposed the application, citing the seriousness of the allegations and the circumstances described in the complaint.
After hearing the arguments from both sides, the Pune Sessions Court rejected Badhe’s bail application. Narhe Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
