PMC Focuses on Cleanliness Ahead of Ganeshotsav

The PMC is strengthening its sanitation arrangements ahead of the 10-day Ganeshotsav festival. Additional cleaning staff are being deployed, while more waste bins are being placed at important locations to manage the increase in garbage generation during the celebrations.

Regular cleaning drives and temporary waste-disposal arrangements are also being planned to ensure that festival-related waste is collected and cleared on time.

Road Repairs and Maintenance Underway

Road maintenance is another key focus of the civic body's preparations. The PMC is carrying out repairs and resurfacing work on important roads and procession routes to improve traffic movement and public safety during the festival.

A recent inspection of major procession routes also found incomplete works, including potholes, damaged footpaths and unfinished road restoration after excavation. Officials have been directed to complete such works quickly.

Focus on Smooth Festival Operations

The civic body is coordinating with various departments and stakeholders to improve infrastructure readiness during Ganeshotsav.

The preparations are aimed at maintaining cleanliness, public safety and civic order as large numbers of devotees and visitors are expected to participate in the festivities.

Traffic and Civic Arrangements Strengthened

Along with PMC preparations, authorities are also introducing traffic-management measures in view of the expected crowds. Heavy and oversized vehicles have been restricted on several roads during the festival period, while police are preparing diversions and other arrangements to manage congestion.

The combined measures are intended to ensure that Pune's major celebrations and processions take place with minimum disruption to daily life.
