Pune Crime: 23-Year-Old IT Engineer Dies by Suicide in Kharadi; Boyfriend Arrested

A 23-year-old woman working as an IT engineer in Pune died by suicide at a residential society in the Kharadi area, following an alleged argument with her boyfriend.

The deceased has been identified as Janhvi Pathak, 23, originally from Bihar. According to police, the incident took place at around 1:30 pm on Friday at River Dale Society in Kharadi.

Following a complaint filed by Janhvi's 49-year-old uncle, police registered a case against her boyfriend, Amritkumar Arunkumar Singh, 23, and arrested him. Police are now investigating the circumstances that preceded Janhvi's death.

Couple Had Known Each Other Since School

According to preliminary information, Janhvi and Amrit Kumar had known each other since their school days and were in a relationship.

Janhvi had completed her engineering studies in Rajasthan and was working with an IT company in Pune's Kharadi area. She had reportedly been living in Pune for around two months.

Amrit Kumar, who works for an IT company in Noida, had travelled to Pune two days before the incident to meet Janhvi.

Argument Reportedly Took Place on Thursday Night

Police said the couple had an argument on Thursday night. The dispute allegedly escalated into a physical altercation between the two.

The following morning, Amrit Kumar reportedly went downstairs. Around this time, Janhvi died by suicide at the residence.

The exact reason behind the argument and the circumstances that led to Janhvi's death have not yet been established. Police are questioning the accused and examining the events surrounding the incident.

Police Investigation Underway

Kharadi Police are investigating the case and are trying to establish the sequence of events, the nature of the dispute and other circumstances surrounding the death.
