Pune News: ATB Raids Cosmetics Shop in Pimpri, Seizes 23 ‘Made in Pakistan’ Beauty Creams
The Anti-Terrorism Branch (ATB) has taken action after receiving information about the sale of beauty creams labelled “Made in Pakistan” at a cosmetics shop in Pimpri, Pimpri-Chinchwad. Police raided Shakti Cosmetics and seized 23 beauty creams worth approximately ₹12,650. Further investigation is underway to determine the source and supply chain of the products.
ATB Raids Cosmetics Shop in Pimpri
According to police, the ATB received information that beauty creams carrying the “Made in Pakistan” label were being sold at Shakti Cosmetics, located near the PMML bus stop on River Road in Pimpri.
Following the information, the ATB team, with assistance from Pimpri Police, conducted a raid at the shop.
During the operation, police took action against Prakash Manoharlal Guru and seized 23 beauty cream products labelled “Made in Pakistan”. Each cream is reportedly worth around ₹550, bringing the total value of the seized products to approximately ₹12,650.
Case Registered Under Copyright Act
The case was registered at Pimpri Police Station following a complaint by R. Irshadin Inamdar, an inspection officer associated with the Indian company of Gori Beauty Cream.
Along with relevant legal provisions, police have also invoked provisions of the Copyright Act. Pimpri Police are conducting further investigation into the matter.
Police are also investigating where the creams were sourced from and how they reached the cosmetics shop.
Restrictions on Import of Goods From Pakistan
According to the information provided in the report, the Government of India has restrictions on the import of various goods from Pakistan.
Police have appealed to citizens to inform the authorities if they come across the sale or storage of prohibited goods.
FDA Seizes 5,385 Kg of Suspected Khava
Meanwhile, in a separate food-safety operation, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Dhule Taluka Police seized around 5,385 kg of suspected khava worth approximately ₹16.52 lakh.
Acting on confidential information, an FDA and police team kept watch near Hotel Balaji in the Morane area on Sakri Road. A suspicious travel bus bearing registration number MP 44 ZF 7214 was stopped and inspected.
Officials found khava and other food products from several brands inside the vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently taken to Disan Cold Storage near the highway toll booth for further action.
Products from 13 companies, including Premium Halwa, Brajnidhi, Ganesha, Nandi, Khodal, Shri Gwal, Shri Gokul, Gopal, Krishna Halwa and Meera, were seized.
The entire stock has been kept in cold storage as officials investigate suspected adulteration.
Further action is being taken against driver Jagdish Manji Patidar, Mahendra Singh Parbat Singh Rathod, and cleaner Rajkumar Roshanlal Acharya, all residents of Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
