Rajgurunagar: Uncle Killed at Home, Nephew Dies by Suicide
A 43-year-old man was allegedly killed by his 20-year-old nephew at their Madhavnagar home in Rajgurunagar on September 19. Police said the nephew subsequently died by suicide in the same house. A purported suicide note has been recovered, while Khed Police are investigating the exact motive and sequence of events.
Pune: A 43-year-old man was allegedly killed by his 20-year-old nephew at a house in Rajgurunagar’s Madhavnagar area on Saturday, September 19. Police said the nephew subsequently died by suicide inside the same house.
The deceased have been identified as Sandeep Waman Gadge (43) and his nephew Pravin Kailas Kohinkar (20).
According to preliminary information from Khed Police, Gadge had been suffering from health problems for the past few months. Around two months ago, he had moved into his nephew’s house in Madhavnagar for treatment and assistance with his care.
Police said the incident took place on Saturday morning. Preliminary investigation suggests that Pravin allegedly attacked his uncle with a sharp agricultural weapon, causing a severe injury to his neck. Gadge died at the scene.
Pravin was later found dead by suicide in another part of the same house. After being informed about the incident, Khed Police reached the property, conducted a panchnama and collected evidence from the scene.
During the examination of the house, investigators also recovered a purported suicide note believed to have been written by Pravin. Police said the note refers to problems involving his uncle. However, investigators are examining its authenticity and have not yet established the complete circumstances that led to the two deaths.
Khed Police are investigating whether there had been a dispute between the two before the incident and are examining other evidence and statements to establish the exact sequence of events.
