A 24-year-old former law clerk in Bandra East, Mumbai, died by suicide on August 6 after jumping from his 13th-floor apartment. The victim had been experiencing severe stress and depression stemming from alleged threats made by his ex-girlfriend—whom he met while studying in Bengaluru—and her older sister, who threatened to frame him in a false police case. After his friends revealed the harassment to his mother, the young man admitted to the threats before locking himself in his bedroom and jumping from the window. Following a complaint from the victim's mother, Mumbai police registered a case of abetment to suicide against both women, and an investigation is currently underway.
