Baramati Woman’s Last Call to Mother Before Death

Baramati: A 23-year-old woman died under suspicious circumstances in Baramati, prompting police to register a case against a young man following a complaint by her mother. The family has raised serious allegations about the circumstances preceding the woman's death, including a claim that the accused had given her tablets before allegedly seeking a physical relationship with her.

The accused has been identified as Atharva Rajendra Mehan. According to the complaint submitted by the woman's mother, her daughter had contacted her shortly before the incident and allegedly expressed concern about Atharva giving her tablets. She reportedly told her mother that he intended to have a physical relationship with her after giving her the medicine.

The deceased woman had completed a BSc in Agriculture and had moved to Pune to prepare for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examinations. During her stay in Pune, she reportedly became acquainted with Atharva, and the two subsequently entered into a relationship.

The relationship was later known to both families. According to the complaint, discussions regarding their marriage had also taken place, and the families had reportedly agreed to the proposed alliance. However, the woman's mother claims that she noticed changes in her daughter's behaviour in the days before her death.

The mother has alleged that her daughter had previously spoken about Atharva giving her tablets before attempting to have physical relations with her. The allegation is now part of the police investigation.

The complaint further states that around five days before the woman's death, she visited TC College in connection with work related to MBA admission. Later, she reportedly called her mother and said that she was going to Atharva's residence. According to the complaint, the woman allegedly told her mother that Atharva planned to give her a tablet before having a physical relationship with her.

Concerned by what her daughter had told her, the mother reportedly asked her to come back home. However, later that night, when she contacted her daughter again, she was allegedly informed that the young woman had been taken to a hospital.

The woman was subsequently declared dead at the hospital. The sudden death has raised questions among her family, who have sought an investigation into the events leading up to the incident.

Based on the mother's complaint, police have registered a case against Atharva Rajendra Mehan. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the woman's death and are also looking into the allegations concerning the tablets. Medical reports, forensic evidence and other relevant information are expected to play an important role in determining the exact cause and circumstances of the death.

Police are continuing their investigation, and further details are expected to emerge as the medical examination and inquiry progress. At this stage, the allegations made in the complaint remain subject to investigation.
