Mumbai Bandra Accident: 8-Year-Old Boy Dies After Being Hit by Car; Woman Driver Arrested
An 8-year-old boy, Ansh Gupta, died after allegedly being hit by a speeding car in Mumbai's Bandra West area. According to preliminary information, the woman driving the car was reportedly talking on her mobile phone when the accident occurred. Bandra Police arrested the driver, identified as Megha Rawal, and registered a case over alleged rash and negligent driving.
A tragic road accident in Mumbai's Bandra West area claimed the life of an eight-year-old boy after he was allegedly struck by a speeding car on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Ansh Gupta, 8. According to preliminary information, the accident took place at around 2:30 pm on John Baptist Road near Jijamata Road, opposite Jijamata Garden in Bandra West.
Ansh was reportedly crossing the road when a car driven by Megha Rawal approached the spot. It has been alleged that the woman was talking on her mobile phone while driving and failed to notice the child crossing the road.
The car allegedly hit Ansh, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to Holy Family Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Woman Driver Arrested
Following the incident, Bandra Police registered a case against the woman driver and arrested her.
According to the information provided, police have invoked provisions relating to causing death by negligence, rash driving and acts endangering human life, along with Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, including allegations that the driver was using a mobile phone while driving.
The incident has once again raised concerns over distracted and rash driving, particularly the risks associated with using mobile phones while behind the wheel.
Two Teenagers Killed in Ghatkopar Accident
The Bandra accident comes amid another fatal road accident in Mumbai.
Two teenagers, Aryan Aloknath Paswan, 15, and Ganesh Sunil Mahamuni, 14, died after their scooter was allegedly hit by a container truck on the Ghatkopar-Andheri Link Road.
According to the available information, Ganesh had taken his father's scooter and was travelling with Aryan when the vehicle reached near Jagruti Nagar Metro Station. A container allegedly approached from behind at high speed and collided with the scooter.
Both teenagers reportedly came under the rear wheel of the container. They were taken to Rajawadi Hospital, but doctors declared them dead.
Samruddhi Mahamarg Accident Leaves One Dead, Several Injured
In another serious road accident, a 65-year-old man died and 10 passengers were injured after a container truck and a travel vehicle were involved in an accident near Vaijapur on the Samruddhi Mahamarg.
The deceased was identified as Hemant Harishchandra Dabhade, 65, a resident of Vaijapur.
The injured passengers were reportedly taken to the Upazila Hospital in Vaijapur for treatment.
The series of accidents has renewed concerns over road safety, speeding and negligent driving across Maharashtra.
